Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), also called chronic diseases, are diseases that are not primarily caused by an acute infectious agent and tend to be of long duration. They result from a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental, and behavioural factors. NCDs are now the leading cause of death globally and are a rapidly growing burden in Nigeria.
